So...what if each line had its own gain control? Just double click and have a knob....even better....have it be infinite gain and infinite negative gain....
The reason being...sometimes I have self-synthesis mulches that are super duper quiet...and I need to add 5 SGains to make it audible. OR, I have parts that are super loud...and I need to have an SGain set to just above negative infinity gain to unclip it.
So why couldn't the line itself have a gain setting? Default could be zero so it would be no change if you didn't want to use the feature.
I think this could be especially powerful in conjunction with the red/green lights on all the in/outs of contraptions...see a red light? just open up the line and dial it down a little. No need to cut lines and insert multiple Sgains or whatever.
Eh?
hell yes.
this is something i've always loved from Jeskola Buzz.
please please please!

Because wires don't have gain :) and I don't really want to make the patcher more conceptually complicated if I can help it.

I have this problem too. I'm considering adding some pad switches to the gain contraptions (+/- 6dB, 12, 24, 36, 48) -- accidentally clicking +48 is not going to be pleasant though. Or else we could have a separate pad contraption -- that would at least reduce the chance of accidents.
Another (additional) possibility is to support some degree of embedded controls in the patcher, for example perhaps the gain knob could actually appear inside the contraption in the patcher -- this kind of thing is pretty much in the area of increasing uncertainty on the roadmap however.

hi Ross -
could the pad switches be in a pop up window like the window that pops up when recalling presets in contraptions.. maybe like the window that was in V1 of mulch? that might help prevent accidents.
I use Sonalksis' Free G, a really useful VST fader with gain. and it's free.
